Astanga Yoga retreat in Puglia, Italy, 5th – 12th September 2010 at Yoga in Salento
Following on from last year’s wonderful experience, with kind thanks to our charming hosts Frizzi and Marc, we will again be teaching our Astanga Yoga Retreat at Yoga In Salento, Puglia, Italy, from 5th-12th September 2010.
The retreat takes place at Yoga In Salento’s Eco-resort Le Campine, a spacious 20 acre property with shady gardens, ancient trees, swimming pool, organic vegetable garden, olive grove, historic villa and a masseria, constructed around 1900, with vaulted high ceilings and classic decoration. Le Campine is a family home beautifully maintained and specifically set up for yoga retreats, with accommodation located inside the villa, masseria and in 3 separate apartments. Within the peaceful vaulted rooms of the masseria are two special yoga spaces and a massage room.
Six morning Mysore-Style Astanga Yoga classes will be taught in the traditional method. Emanuele and Bella teach each student according to his/her own needs and students practice at their own pace with adjustments and individual attention. Three late-afternoon yoga classes give participants the chance to ask questions and explore aspects of yoga practice more deeply.
Brunch, light lunch and dinner are prepared using fresh organic home-grown and local products. Meals are vegetarian and deliciously Italian. One evening per week is the chef’s night off and there will be no dinner – there are some amazing restaurants to visit in the stunning baroque city of Lecce, beautiful coastal towns of Otranto and Gallipoli and villages nearby.
Fantastic coastline surrounds Yoga in Salento, approximately 20-30 minutes in every direction and it is highly recommended to hire a car to explore the stunning beaches and crystal blue seas, coastal towns, the cultural city of Lecce and areas of natural and historic beauty and interest. Or if you are more in the mood to just retreat, then take a good book and just lay back by the pool and take walks around Le Campine, it’s the heart of Salento in every sense.
